Seven Principles for Inclusive STEM Education (Dec 2020)
Despite the growing demand for STEM graduates and skills, Australian student interest and confidence in STEM subjects is relatively low. Schools and teachers play a pivotal role in engaging all learners in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and in helping students realise their potential.
This session presents practical classroom strategies and resources, informed by recent research, that bring the Girls in STEM Toolkit(GiST) Seven Principles for Inclusive STEM Education to life. You will walk away with an understanding of the current research landscape, ideas and contemporary resources to help you create an engaging and inclusive STEM classroom or program.

Presenters: Dr Rebecca Vivian, The Computer Science Education Research Group (CSER) at The University of Adelaide. Dr Rebecca Vivian is a Research Fellow and Learning Scientist in the CSER Group, who has experience in teacher professional development with expertise in K-12 Digital Technologies Education and technology-enhanced learning. Martin Richards is an experienced educator and the Content Manager for the Digital Technologies Hub, leading the development and curation of content and support for teachers, families, and students.
